Back to School Fall Fashion / By Bianca Aires
As summer comes to an end, students prepare for their first week back at school and their normal structured lives. While most students may be excited to reconnect with their friends and get back to the college dorm life, I find myself sitting in my room contemplating all of the final touches to my debut outfits. What do kids wear on the first day of school? Do people even notice my outfits? Am I trying too hard? How hard should I even try? These are just a few questions that may be going through your mind too when deciding what to wear on the first days back. And if it already weren’t hard enough to find the perfect outfit, the ever changing weather in New England makes sure to leave everyone confused on what the heck is going on outside!
Whether you are a fashionista or not, it is nearly impossible to ignore the fact that our style and the way we dress is a representation of ourselves. If you dress for success and feel good about yourself, then you will feel more confident and self-assured. A first impression is everything nowadays, especially when starting a new job or class and meeting new people. Also, you never know who you might meet or run into when you least expect it...being prepared for anything is always crucial. At the end of the day, we all have our own personal style, and use it differently to express ourselves which makes us all unique. Being able to have our own style that we are most confident and comfortable in can be a game changer for anybody. And if fashion isn’t your main thing, then look for style inspirations from your peers around you, there's always a new trend to follow.
Denim, Denim, DENIM! Denim seems as if it will never go out of style, and that is probably because it wont. Denim is a staple piece in everyone's closet and super easy for anybody to pull off. Whether it’s some cool boyfriend jeans or a nice button up long sleeve dress, denim finds its way into any arrangement, and its no question we see some form of denim being used all over campus this season. Some pops of vibrant and fun colors can also be seen around this time. Even though we are in September, we can’t help but to hold on to every single bit of summer that we have left. Being able to wear fun and vibrant colors, especially while it is still nice and sunny out can positively affect one's attitude. Plus, the University makes it even easier with all the beautiful flowers growing around campus!
Oversized silhouettes and layered looks are also trending this season. As fall quickly creeps up on us, we may find ourselves searching through our winter coats sooner than we expected, but good thing it’s also in style! Coming to you straight from the runway, this oversized look is an easy and cozy transition into cooler temperatures that are fast approaching. Whether you want to do it big and wear a few different layers of coats topped off with one bigger coat as seen on some runway looks, or you want to keep it minimal and only layer two or three items, everyone can be a part of this trend! Starting your way simple with only a few thin layers and perhaps a jean or leather jacket is also a great way to step into the fall and fit right into the ever changing seasons and temperatures around campus!
